Universal hydraulic double miter bandsaw. With a compact footprint and a heavy-duty structure, offers wide cutting capacity and excellent performance across a wide range of materials.

Thanks to the Carif Patented Hydraulic System with feed and pressure regulator, the 320 can cut any type of material and thickness. The blade cuts through the material with constant auto-regulation according to the material cross-section, significantly improving performance and extending blade life.

The main features of 320 BSA VAR-E

DOUBLE MITER

Miter cutting both ways +60°/-45°. The frame rotates on tapered roller bearings, independently of the support planes on which the material rests.

GEAR PUMP

Hydraulic system for a smooth adjustment of the bow feed and cutting pressure. At cycle start, the vise clamps hydraulically and the saw bow automatically descends. At the end of the cutting operation, the vise opens and the saw bow automatically returns to its initial upper position. cycle

2.2 KW Motor + electronic inverter; cutting speed range from 15 to 100 m/min (49-328 ftm)

CONTROL PANEL

Practical, simple and ergonomic, it can be positioned on all sides of the machine to facilitate different working operations. Integrated with a Display to set the blade speed, to memorize start cutting position and piece-counter. 

POTENTIOMETER

Storage of the cutting start position. At the end of the cycle, the saw frame automatically returns to the preset position.

WORKING PLANES

Two large work tables provide a practical and comfortable working surface. The machine already offers a wide cutting capacity with a single table, while the second one is usually kept as a spare. Once worn, the tables can be turned upside down, always providing a new working surface.

FRAME

Bow made of a special hardened aluminum alloy, machined in a single setup on a machining center. High-quality finish with smooth, glossy coating and inclined at 30° to minimize blade length and ensure precise, straight cuts.

CHIPS TANK

Large chip tray complete with a perforated tank that allows coolant to pass through while retaining swarf. Easy to clean.

MEASURING DEVICE

Measuring hard stop L=500 mm with height regulation.

All CARIF models 260/320/450 are completely Hydraulic: closure of the vice, bow feed and pressure.

Thanks to this system the blade regularly descends, with a constant auto-regulation for every material type, section and thickness.

Why choose a Carif band saw

The heavy-duty structure ensures outstanding cutting performance on all types of materials and section sizes. All cutting capacities and technical data specified are referred to solid materials: whether cutting standard steels or high-strength materials, a CARIF band saw gives the same reliability and cutting efficiency.

Cutting perpendicularity is tested and guaranteed within decimal tolerances, with a maximum deviation of 0.2 mm every 100 mm.

Note: To achieve optimal cutting performance and maintain straightness, it is essential to properly adjust the carbide inserts on the blade guides, to set the right cutting parameters Bow feed and cutting pressure. Additionally, the blade quality and, last but not least, the correct TPI configuration play a crucial role.

Difference between hydraulic semi-automatic band saws and gravity-feed band saws

Many band saw manufacturers and sellers, for sales convenience and to maintain competitive pricing, do not clearly specify the type of machine they are offering, often omitting the distinction between hydraulic semi-automatic and gravity-fed models. However, the difference is substantial.

A simple gravity-fed band saw relies on the downward movement of the saw bow under its own weight; a cylinder with a valve supports and regulates the descent to a greater or lesser extent. The blade therefore cuts purely under gravity, and the vise must be closed manually.

Result: frequent blade breakage, the machine is not suitable for cutting profiles with thick sections or solid materials, longer cutting times, and constant operator presence required throughout the cycle.

In contrast, a hydraulic band saw is controlled by hydraulic oil, which applies pressure respectively to the vise cylinder and the bow cylinder to manage the cutting feed. At cycle start, the vise clamps the material under pressure and the blade descends with a constant feed rate. At the end of the cut, the vise opens and the saw bow automatically returns to its initial position.

Result: capability to cut all types of materials, reduced cycle times, improved cutting quality, significantly longer blade life, and no need for constant operator presence, especially when cutting solid materials where cycle times are longer.

Why is it important to adjust pressure in addition to cutting feed?

On Carif band saws, cutting pressure can also be adjusted during the cutting process. The hydraulic pressure acts on the blade as it penetrates the workpiece, allowing the cutting feed to remain constant at all times.

Especially when the blade is fully engaged within the material and when cutting solid, tough materials (e.g. stainless steel), the ability to adjust pressure is essential to achieve a straight and uniform cut.

Therefore, for the same feed rate, pressure can be increased or decreased, significantly improving blade service life.

 

When should an inverter be preferred over a two-speed motor?

When the range of materials is very wide, from easy-to-machine materials such as aluminium to more difficult-to-cut materials, precise adjustment of cutting speed is important, as it directly affects blade life.

For daily cutting of standard steel (C40/C45) or stainless steel, a band saw equipped with a two-speed motor is more than sufficient.
